EL ULTIMO REFUGIO

This project envisions an observation structure on Bolivia’s Salt Flat—an immense landscape that oscillates between crystalline dryness and reflective water. The architecture draws directly from this dual condition: the salt’s hexagonal grid informs the plan geometry during the dry season, while the flooded surface during the rainy season produces a mirrored elevation that completes the hexagonal figure in reflection. Materially, white granite was chosen to blend into the terrain and avoid disturbing the fragile visual and ecological character of the site.
